2018 will be the Year of Young People (YoYP), a year aimed to inspire Scotland through our young people, celebrating their achievements, valuing their contributions to communities and creating new opportunities for young people to shine locally, nationally and on the international stage!
In recognition of Aberdeen City Council’s commitment to providing positive opportunities and pathways for young people and in celebration of the YoYP, a new funding programme is being established to support the delivery of youth-led creative activity in the city.
The £100,000 funding programme will build upon the city’s rich history and heritage of youth participation activity by empowering young people through creative pathway opportunities as well as having a voice in the decision making process.
Young people will be actively encouraged to design, develop and deliver creative events and activities within their own communities, applying as individuals (16-25) or a youth groups (8-25) working with arts organisations, community groups and or volunteer organisations.
Awards of up to £2,000 are available for individuals who reside in Aberdeen (16-25) and up to £10,000 for community groups or not for profit organisations who work with young people (8-25). For more information on how to apply, please the YOYP 2018 Creative Funding Application Guidelines.
A free information session is being held at Seventeen on Belmont Street on the 14th of March between 5.30pm – 7.00pm. It is open to individuals and well as group representatives. Please register for this event at eventbrite.
